COMPOSITIONS

The series of works “Compositions” explores the harmony between emotions and rationality, creating structures that combine amorphous forms with clear geometric patterns. Abstraction, especially geometric abstraction, serves the artist as a universal way of understanding the world, organizing and harmonizing reality. The artist returns to the legacy of the early 20th century – the avant-garde, analytical art, as well as the ideas of minimalism, to demonstrate the importance of internal structure. Structure needs to be brought back into our reality in a direct dialogue with Malevich, Kandinsky, Tatlin, Popova….

Marina Astakhova’s works are a nostalgia for the structures she observes in nature and a return to the heritage of the avant-garde and minimalism. In them, the artist explores the intersections of past and future, where opposing elements intertwine, creating new meanings and forms.
